NO REPRO FEES – At the Department of Health to mark World Gynaecological Oncology Day (World GO Day) on 20th September and launch INGO’s “Know the Five” campaign are Minister for Health Dr Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, INGO coordinators Dr Sharon O’Toole and Yvonne O’Meara, and patient advocates Anne Nally (Westmeath), Marie Hannon (Wicklow), Catriona Doyle (Dublin), Mairead McMahon (Offaly) and Bridget Carr (Limerick). The patient advocates are holding balloons representing the five main gynaecological cancers – ovarian, cervical, uterine, vaginal and vulva. New research by INGO highlights significant gaps in awareness of these cancers, with knowledge varying considerably across the five. With approximately 2,000 gynaecological cancers diagnosed across the island of Ireland each year, the campaign is encouraging women of all ages to know the five, recognise the signs and symptoms, and understand that awareness matters at every age.
